Well, I am excited about joining the bus. I have long been afraid of technology, but having mastered the Wiki and slide show I am excited to be joining the throng!

Leanne - I couldn't agree more. I have been seeing this bus roaring towards us for quite a while now but as people are starting to come into the picture I am feeling a great renewal of the excitement.I think I should be taking one or two people with me to the conferences and workshops I attend just to help them see the big picture - even you as Team Leader.I guess we have to be careful though as there is so much out there in the web2 world that it can become pretty overwhelming. I think we are on the right track - just bringing people along slowly but with me staying well ahead so that we don't get left behind and then I can catch the rest of us up without casuing too much stress.

I think people are starting to see the potential of the wiki now that they have had a play - just need to get other tutors playing who have not appeared yet. When everyone sees how easy it is to get photos into Flickr and Slide.com or bookmark with Del.icio.us etc they will find out it is fun and then maybe they will want to get on board the bus.

Lynne, I feel that we are on the edge of a whole new stage for Coonara and for us as adult educators and community developers. It's almost like I've just seen the bus roaring towards us with the future on board and it's not going to slow down...we just need to jump onto the back and hold on. I think it is very much a case of learning as we go/ as we do it. If we try to wait till we have perfected things or even fully understood them we will be left behind. It's exciting though isn't it? The next thing to do is to expose everyone at Coonara to the excitement and the real need to jump on board the bus. One of the most satisfying moments of the ACFE conference for me was right at the end when there were ooos and ahhhs as Michael put our Wiki up on the screen and I saw lots and lots of people writing down the address and feeling proud and excited that this was US in cyberspace.

I can't beleive that I was first! I thought I took forever to work it out. I tried in the afternoon afternoon after the workshop to find my way around it. And I finally found this bit that you can write into.
I thought i would need a password to be able to do that.

Hi Debbie,

Thank you for being the first to comment! I think the wiki is just the place to talk to tutors about your project. The discussion forum is just right for that. The email is good too as not everyone has seen this yet and you want to contact everyone.

I agree with you that we need another session, particularly for people to be able to work the wiki as the idea is that they will become confident enough to eventually do one of their own and use it with students. Sorry you had to do your comments here again - very frustrating but well done on getting the second lot to work!

I also agree that face to face discussions are the best way for tutors to talk and share together but as you so rightly pointed out, time is of the essence. I hope that we can do a bit of both. I think it just needs someone to organise it to make sure that it happens. That is why I am trying to take the lead in the online stuff.

I will be very interested in the replies you get back to your questions - it would be great if you could put the questions up in the wiki. If you like, I can do that for you this time - maybe make you a new page and then I can show you how to do it yourself. Let me know. Thanks again for your input- Lynne

Lynne,
I already wrote a long thing and when i went to submit it, it wiped out what I had written in this space and said that I had not filled in the name and email. That was frustrating now I have to write it agian.

Thanks for a really interesting session last week, clearly with the amount of discussion that went on tutors do need a way of being able to talk together.
I think that perhaps this might be one way of doing that, though there is no substitute for being face to face with your peers and be able to have a laugh as well.

I think another session would be beneficial to learn the things about this forum that I probably won't learn alone. Time seems to be in short supply for all of us this coming term though, so you may have trouble time tabling it at a convenient time for all.

I am needing to gain some feedback from as many tutors as possible to prepare for a conversation at the ACFE conference. Is this the apporpriate place to try to do that? It will be asking for feedback form tutors on the difficulties in working as a sessional tutor in ACE and what our managers/orgs can do to support us.

I was planning on emailing everyone I know, but perhaps I could ask on this site. What do you think?

cheers Lynne and thanks again for a great session.

Lynne

Looks like you have been very busy.

I had a look at you Wiki site and made some minor changes to it. I hope you will have a good response from other visitors to your blog and wiki.

I too, am looking forward to the holidays, but there not much time until November.

Keep in touch
